Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI v Mill Hill Village III on Sat 23 Jul 2016 at 1pm - 80 overs (42/38)
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
The toss was lost and MHV opted to bat.
With 4 relentlessly accurate bowlers - Callum and Harry, then Joe and Hendo - they were always under pressure for runs, even though the pitch was good. The skipper and the number 3 batted well to resist and Dulernain cuffed some good boundaries but, once we dismissed them then the wickets tumbled and pressure told. We could even afford a number of dropped catches, even if the majority were tough. (Not that Callum's caught and bowled chance came in that category, but you'll have to ask him about that.)
Restricting them to 136 in 42 overs was a big feat. Joe got the player of the day award for his excellent 5-40 on a batters pitch.
We showed the quality of the pitch and our batting by cruising to the total, with Dan Angel dominating. He got bored in the end and switch-reverse swept twice in a row, despite being dropped at slip off the first one.
The skipper managed to get run out for the second week in a row. Careless. But Ben and Dan saw it through comfortably.
This leaves us a clear 2nd with the top team next week. Crunch time.....
