Members’ Fun Day - Sunday 22nd June 2025
Our 150th Anniversary Members Fun Day will be a day long celebration of our wonderful game and club, with something for everyone to enjoy.
Centred around a mixed team eight-a-side competition there will be games, food and drink for all ages throughout the day. Open to all members and their families, we also encourage all of the community to come down and enjoy the entertainment on offer.
Eight-a-Side Blast Competition
Running throughout the afternoon will be a fun 8 over per side cricket competition. 12 mixed teams will play across four pitches for the honour of being our 150th Anniversary 8-a-side champions. Each mixed gender team will be made up of balanced mix of senior players, juniors and social cricketers playing as teams named after club legends and local landmarks. Teams will battle it out through group stages and finals but with the emphasis very much on fun. Spectators will be treated to the big hitting and canny bowling demanded by the short format and the fun of seeing a first team star being carted out of the ground by one of our talented juniors. It will be an Incrediball tournament to keep the fast pace and make it inclusive. All members are invited to play and you can apply as individuals, pairs, groups or even families. We will do our best to get everyone in the team they want and it promises to be a hugely entertaining competition.
Cricket Olympics
For the younger members there will be a morning of cricket Olympics with ten games to play as groups under the leadership of one of our junior coaches. Which team will hit the longest six, have the fastest fielders or be the deadliest bowler? There will be prizes for the winning teams but, as with the rest of the day, it will all be about having fun.
We also plan to extend the cricket Olympics to everyone in the afternoon to test your abilities and settle some of those ancient rivalries once and for all!
As well as the bar being open all day with Mad Squirrel serving their fabulous pizza’s and burgers there will be numerous food outlets, a beer tent and marquee (hopefully for shade and not to shelter from the rain!). For the younger ones there will be facepainting, craft tables and the chance to try out cricket for the first time in one of our ‘taster’ nets. We will be running games and raffles through the day and every inch of the field will be utilised to make this a wonderful day long occasion for all the family. Presentations and prizes will be handed out around 6.30pm but the bar will be open long into the evening.
Full details and entry forms to follow shortly. To make the day as memorable as possible we will need a host of volunteers and we would welcome any support and time you could give on the day.
