Bar opening and you can book nets!

01 Jul 2020

Hi everyone – 2 important announcements for our members.

  1. Our bar will be opening – hurray! – on Saturday 4th July for the first time this summer – it will be table service and we will need to take contact details.  Please see attached slide for opening hours.    If the weather is good there is no better place than our decking to enjoy a sociable drink (and of course the children can play on the ground).

  1. Many of our members have been asking if they can use the nets outside of organized coaching sessions – and whilst we must regulate usage to ensure compliance with government and ECB guidelines we do want to provide the ability to book a net for both senior (men and women) and junior players.    The following arrangements will be in place for 2 weeks starting 4th July.  It will be subject to change thereafter due to the planned start of summer holiday camps on June 20th.

(i)                  You can book a 1 hour slot at the following times – weekends 3pm to 7pm and weekdays 12 noon to 4pm.   The sessions will need to end after 55 minutes to allow a smooth handover with the next booking.

(ii)                Only 2 nets will be allowed to be in use at any one time to ensure social distancing.

(iii)               Maximum of 6 people in one net.  Each player should bring their own ball.

(iv)               No charge to book a net for paid up members.

(v)                We will provide anti-bacterial sprays at each net – this should be applied at the end of the net session.

(vi)               Juniors wishing to use the nets MUST strictly observe net rules – full protective equipment including a helmet to be worn whilst batting or wicket keeping with a hard ball.  Any junior not observing these rules will be asked to leave the club immediately and will be reported to the Club Welfare Officer.    To be clear the definition of junior is anyone under the age of 18.

(vii)             To book email as follows – Juniors to Mark at rmlewarne@gmail.com and for seniors to James at jamesbellcricket@gmail.com

Finally – we are still waiting to hear from the ECB about the resumption of competitive matches for both juniors and seniors.  As soon as we have the all clear we will be in touch with details.
