Reminder of covid-19 restrictions during the season

26 Aug 2020

All, a message from the club captain, Dave Chrispin, reminding us of how we should take precautions during this period where we've had some resurgence and local cases:

Following local incidents of Covid19 being reported it is important that we play our part in restricting the spread of the virus. We know active members of the club who are living with vulnerable relatives and we all have a responsibility to ensure government guidelines are followed on the pitch, outside the boundary and around the clubhouse to keep ourselves, our families and visitors safe.

The ECB guidance sets out the social distancing rules and players and spectators should be aware of the risks when attending our ground. Consider taking your temperature before coming to a game and if you are displaying any symptoms then you must self isolate, seek a test and inform the club. During the game itself we are all familiar with the regular sanitisation breaks that take place but as a reminder here are some other key elements to remember:

🏏 Players bring their own teas
🏏 Players to bring own drink to ensure bar staff are not over exposed by requests for water during a game
🏏 No use of changing rooms - players to arrive and leave in appropriate cricket kit
🏏 Players to bring sanitiser - the club will provide a communal spray for use on the field but not for general personal use
🏏 Wipe down shared equipment, inc scorebooks, pens etc
🏏 Umpires will not touch the ball or hold player clothing
🏏 Scorers should be socially distanced
🏏 No sweat or saliva to be applied to the ball
🏏 Wicket celebrations must be socially distant

In addition, participants and spectators must continue to socially distance off the pitch and not block communal areas, especially with kit bags. Skippers are responsible on the day for both Berkhamsted players as well as informing the opposition of our local rules but please also comply with any instructions given by club staff who continue to work extremely hard in keeping the club and bar open during these times.

Enjoy the rest of the season and stay safe
