Match report It was cold.....very cold. With our new skipper Vinit promoted to the 2s Mark skippered and put MHV into bat - with an arctic wind howling around the ground and the ever-present threat of rain we made a good start, with Hugo excelling in the covers. It was one of those bitter days when you almost don't want the ball to come to you in the field - however we generally got our bodies in the way - and in Pete's case his head - and we took 3 catches (we also dropped 5). Mark rotated 8 bowlers and with a bit of early season rustiness we went for a few over 4 an over however considering the fact that we had 2 people injured fielding it wasn't a bad effort and we managed to bowl out their 10 men, Jake K being the pick of the bowlers with 3-14. We twice went off for rain/hail and the wind was vicious - blowing over a heavy sightscreen and turning everyone's hands blue.

After tea Jake K was promoted to the lofty heights of 9 (he still didnt get a bat) and Jacob and Pete opened the batting. We were soon in trouble with good pace and spin bowling from the opposition and after Mark managed to run out OC along came another huge hailstorm and with just 1 fit batter to go in we all decided that a hot shower and the bar looked more inviting and so called it a day.

Well played MHV - we always have enjyable games against them and its a shame they have moved to Regional East this year. League season starts next week and we need to bat better!
