Berkhamsted Cricket Club 4th XI v Chipperfield Clarendon III on Sat 18 Aug 2018 at 1pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 4 Wickets
Match report
Selection was interesting this week, from the skippers hospital bed. Would he have his procedure in time or not to play. Fortunately John English became available and avoided that dilemma, Then another dropout higher up and Emma Potts stepped in at the last minute ( Thanks Emma).
To the match stand in skipper Peter (loads of experience) Dudley won the toss and elected to field. Smart decision with the balance of bowling 1 seamer and 6 spinners, try and contain and not leave a huge chase. This worked amazingly well as there was 4 superb spells , the two Charlies (I am sure there is a joke there somewhere) bowled excellent tight spells John English got the 2 wickets that went to a bowler a great spell as well. The bowling of the day belongs to Jack Rees, although no wickets, bowled 8 overs for 11 runs and would have been better but for three wides. The end result was the oppo were contained to 140 - 3 of their 40 overs.
Our innings started terribly 3 wickets down and not even 10 runs. Pete carrying on his good form from last week with 36, and our Mr reliable Steve with 39 stabilised the innings. Then our junkie wicket keeper stuffed full of pain killers finished the match in a hurry before his back collapsed.
We have won 2 on the trot thanks Pete for an excellent job.
