Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost 10 Runs

Match report A decent game against Langlebury. We won the toss and put them in and this paid dividends early on with accurate bowling from Stanford, Doe and Hubbard all taking wickets at regular intervals. Kapadia joined the attack and bowling quick and straight took 4 wicket, 3 bowled and 1 LBW. We had them 58/8 off 14 overs but the bowling and fielding dropped in the last few overs allowing the Langlebury 9 and 10 to add over 40 runs taking them to 101/8.

The Berko reply started well despite the loss of a couple of wickets, Doe and Lound both built innings of 30 taking us to around 60/2 off 12 overs and putting us in a good position to chase down the target. Unfortunately some good bowling from Langlebury meant the required rate steadily rose and the pressure proved too much for our lower order and with boundaries needed we fell 10 runs short.

Not a bad performance but a game that illustrated the importance of keeping focus when you are doing well and how small mistakes can add unnecessary pressure, we gave away too many runs in the field after taking 8 wickets but were only 10 runs short at the end. Hopefully another learning experience for the boys to take into the next matches.
