Scorecard

Hemel Hempstead V v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 24 May 2008 at 1:30
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost by 4 runs

Match report The game swung backwards and forwards all the time, as firstly Hemel started briskly scoring 90-3 in the first 23 overs and then collapsed to 116-9 with a dozen overs left. The last pair prodded their way through the last overs to scrape the score up to 148-9. Top bowler by a mile was Martin Gough with 6-54 and the ground fielding was tidy.

In reply, we started with a hiccup, the first 3 wickets going down for 30 runs, not helped by the umpires being under pressure all the time. When we arrived at 84-7 it looked all over. But the skipper, Charlie Hussey, thought differently. Making the best of a reprieve, being dropped first ball, he took to the bowling and hit it to all parts, including 2 huges sixes in a row.

Reaching 144-8 with 3 overs left, it looked in the bag. But a couple of unwise shots later, Charlie was left stranded at the other end on 46* with us 4 short.
