Match report So many positives - as well as quite a few bonus points - to take out of a thoroughly pleasant cricket match....perfect for a developmental Berkhamsted XI, several of whom were taking their first steps in adult cricket.

To restrict a far-more-experienced opposition batting line up to 146 for 9 was an excellent effort, based on several really pleasing contributions...

Joe's tight lines and four well-deserved wickets...Matt's (watch out there's another Dight coming!) 2 wickets and a terrific low catch in the covers...Kian's two accurate five-over spells (He's an under-13 who won't be in the 4s for long!)...Josh's beautifully-flighted leg-spin (he made a mug of 2 or 3 senior pros!)...Mark's unflagging accuracy when asked to bowl over-after-over while the younger bowlers took their mandatory rest...and Charlie's tidy wicket-keeping display (including a fine catch standing up to Josh).

Given the inexperience of our line-up, Andre (and his early partners) were quite right to proceed with caution. At 45 for 5, a stodgy draw seemed the best we could hope for...but - probably for the first time in a long and inglorious career - the skipper (Peter D) was actually responsible for an INCREASE in the scoring rate. Peter (44) together with the excellent Kian (23) put on 70-plus...and, together with some enthusiastic scampering from the lower middle-order, took us to within
15 of our target, giving Harpenden just a little bit of a fright! You might even call it a winning draw!!

If this is the future of our club...good days lie ahead!"
