Cockfosters V v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 30 Jun 2012 at 1pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost by 79 runs
Match report
Cockfosters V started the ganme with a 100% record at the top of the division and with largely a young side, we knew it was going to be tough. Winning the toss, we asked Cockfosters to bat and they started fast with Patel looking to hit everything possible and they were quickly 56-0 after around 8 overs.
Andy Blood was tossed the ball and he quickly showed that he could handle the situation by bowling Patel and thereafter moving the ball around well and working through the batting order as things slowed down. Jack Hunter bowled really well, too, and the innings was finished with Blood and Hunter working in tandem and Ckcofosters struggling to try to get their last batting point at 170 and failing by 2 runs. A very creditable and well deserved 6-32 to Andy Blood. The outfielding was generally good but the catching was not and we managed to drop or miss every chance offered in the outfield.
In reply, we quickly lost 2 wickets and the Peters Dudley and Wale looked to rebuild against a fast and accurate Khan and niggly and wily Varsani. They survived for a long spell and breathed a sigh of relief when they came off, only for them to come back on at opposite ends!
The wickets really fell when they eventually did come off, with shots being attempted against slower bowling and the lack of experience showing. Cockfosters deservedly kept their 100% record and we ended up with 5 points.
More application is looked for in the batting but sigms are promising that we can make the better sides work hard.
