Match report Another young team travelled to Northwood Town - Alex and Ollie (both U14) making their league debuts. Mark won the toss and put the opposition in - we could see from the first 2 overs there was very little pace and bounce in the pitch but it later became clear that it was a raging turner. Jack and Arun picked up early wickets and then Mark brought on our quartet of spinners who all found a lot of turn off the crumbling pitch. Matt bowled some beautiful balls turning between bat and pad to clip the top of off - unfortunately all the bowlers served up some generous full tosses which the NTs batters had little trouble putting away for boundaries. Arun took a great running catch off Finlay to get rid of the dangerous no 5 and Mark grabbed a good one handed reaction catch off Jack to dismiss the last batter. With such an inexperienced team 177 felt a few too many and so it proved.

Our batters struggled against good accurate bowlers and although Louis hit some lovely shots after he was caught for 19 our innings rather ground to a halt. The NT leg spinner in particular was an excellent bowler and got extravagant turn and bounce. A late flurry of runs from Mark and Finlay for the 10th wicket earned us a couple of batting points and we managed to double last weeks score so small victories are to be treasured!

The game was played in a very friendly spirit and after 7 concessions this season we are at last into positive average points in the league table!
