Tring Park v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 11 A on Fri 19 Jun 2009 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won Berkhamsted by 19 runs
Match report
Berkhamsted 119 for 6 beat Tring Park 100 for 4 by 19 runs
Berkhamsted U11s continued their unbeaten start to the season with a close fought win at Tring. With several regular players absent, three U10 colts were drafted in to the side at short notice and they all made an impact on the game. George Carter finished 26 not out, Eddie Duncombe bowled with accuracy and pace and Ben Miles took two excellent catches. Captain George Lewarne elected to bat first but the top order struggled to keep out Tring’s impressive attack. When Charlie Nicholls (13) was out in the 7th over with the score 29 for 3, Berko looked in trouble, but a quickfire 12 from Matt Bottrill and a 50 partnership between Harvey Lewis (26) and George Carter (26 not out) steadied things. Set 120 to win, Tring got off to the worst possible start with their openers out within two overs. Wickets for Charlie Nicholls and Will Goodwyn and two excellent run outs left Tring 57 for 4 with just six overs left, but an impressive fifth wicket partnership took the hosts past the 100 mark - although they were never quite within striking distance of Berko’s total. Jonathan Butler Caddle calmed any nerves with a tidy final over and Jack Filer had his best game of the season so far with the gloves in what was a good, hard match.
