Match report Our first ever league game for the fifth team! And great to have such a lovely ground at Little Gaddesden CC. Skipper Mark lost the toss and opposition put us into bat. This looked like a very good decision as a lightning throw ran out Sam and Poppy was bowled off her pads. Bruno and Tom did a great job seeing off the new ball and a quick young bowler before falling and when Matthew and Jack went to consecutive balls we were in awful trouble 66-6 off 21 overs. At the other end Joe had been batting serenely punishing the bad balls and when Harry joined him the scoreboard started to accelerate. Joe was caught for 33 excellent runs and then Harry took the attack to the bowlers bludgeoning several boundaries with tremendous hitting. Mark joined Harry and these 2 had a lot of fun, smashing 75 off the last 9 overs to go past the 200.

After a brief interlude (no teas these days sadly) we went out to bowl and our two 15 year old opening bowlers Arun and Sam gave a perfect demonstration of how to bowl with the new ball, full and swinging deliveries making the batsman play. They were both rewarded with 2 wickets and when Poppy bowled their number 5 with her first ball the game was more or less in the bag. There was some brief resistance by the NT middle order but after drinks Mark and Harry came on to mop up the tail in pretty short order. Louis, on debut, kept really well and took 2 smart catches. Jack also took a good catch moving quickly to his left.

Great to get a win after 3 concessions and lets hope we can continue this form into the coming weeks
