Match report Another really exciting game for the U12s saw them narrowly win and preserve their unbeaten run to stay top of Group 2. The West Herts ground was in superb condition with a lightning fast outfield and Berko's in form batsmen took full advantage. There were 3 excellent innings, Ethan Mackie (31 retired), Josh Roberts (22) and skipper Ed Butler-Caddle (16) which combined with some really good running between the wickets by all the batsmen saw the score through to 134, a formidable total. Hancock bowled superbly for West Herts with 3 wickets for just 13 runs.

When we played West Herts earlier in the season their batting had not been strong but this time they gave Berko a real shock with some superb shot making. Both Syaad and Scott raced to 30 before having to retire and after 12 overs the score was 85-1 with West Herts heading for victory. At that point Berkos bowlers who had been somewhat out of sorts on an unfamiliar 19 yard pitch began to get a grip. Matthew Hopkins with 4 wickets for 10 runs and Ethan Mackie (1 for 12) bowled 7 accurate overs assisted by some very good catching and fielding. Jonathan Harvey, who took the catch of the season in 2006 must surely have repeated the trick in 2008 with a stunning, diving one handed catch at first slip which brought applause from players and spectators alike. West Herts finished on 114, 20 runs short. 3 games to go, its getting exciting!
