Match report The 4's narrowly failed to win their first game of the season, as Old Ignations clung on for a draw. Berkhamsted batted first and reached a solid 147-7, despite a very pedestrian over rate from the home side, with Toby Stockton top scoring with 43.
The bowlers then took wickets at regular intervals, aided by some fine catching, especially a diving slip catch by Seb Smith that Paul Collingwood would have been proud of.The home side were 9 down with 16 balls remaining and there followed the rare sight of the 4's with 4 slips, gully, leg slip and 2 short legs, but the batsmen held out. Fine bowling from Stockton, Harry Darby, James Chambers and Ian Peplow wasn't quite enough to force a deserved win.
