Tring Park v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 11 Pairs on Thu 23 Apr 2015 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost 86 Runs
Match report
A baptism of fire for the B team against a very strong Tring side. On a lovely evening Tring's opening 3 batsmen scored freely running virtually every ball and benefiting from some sloppy fielding, they retired on a combined 91. On a positive note the bowling was quite accurate overall with not too many wides and the boys never gave up.
This left an uphill task against a strong bowling attack including the Herts county opening bowler. Opening batsmen Charlie L and Harry bravely faced some hostile balls before succumbing to the Tring ace bowler.
The following batsmen batted solidly against tight bowling in fading light, however, many runs were missed due to lack of calling and running.
To the boys credit the opposition manager commented 'I have to say you must give your guys credit for their batting performance they stuck to the task really well against some fast bowling in poor light, they did you proud' appreciating the attitude the boys showed in difficult circumstances.
In summary, a good attitude from the boys playing prevented a more severe beating, there were signs of good play from an inexperienced team and the coaches will be picking up on the deficiencies over the coming weeks so please get the boys to as many sessions as possible.
Well done to those who played, looking forward to the future games.
Man of Match:
Charlie Higgins for consistent bowling that was rewarded with a valuable wicket.
Moment of match:
George Ivory for the brave stop and return of a hard hit bouncing ball that would have been another 4 therefore saving 3 runs.
