Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 11 Pairs v Hemel Hempstead on Fri 22 May 2015 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 54 runs
Match report
A much improved performance from the U11 Red Team. Batting first there was a lot of positive strokeplay and an excellent opening partnership of 62 runs between Ben and James. Bearing in mind the whole team only scored 41 against Dunstable this was a good development! After Ben retired and James got out Tom came in and hit 4 quick boundaries and with good contributions from Richard, Theo and Will we achieved a good score of 107 from our 20 overs.
There was a similar transformation in our bowling from the last game, the boys focused on bowling a lot straighter with the result that we only bowled 5 wides - and our fielding was much better with energy and enthusiasm and some excellent throws from both Will Hunter and George Willis. Kieran captained the team well and with the game in the bag was able to rotate his bowlers in addition to bowling 4 very accurate overs himself. We ran out comfortable winners.
There was no doubt about the man of the match which went to James for his 23 runs, 3 wickets and generally excellent fielding.
Still a few things to improve on like taking quick singles but this was a very encouraging result after a couple of heavy defeats.
