Match report A comprehensive win for Berko who were asked to bat by the West Herts captain when he won the toss, apparently so that 9 of his players could, at any given time, watch the England v Uruguay World Cup match kicking-off at 8pm.
Berko made 101 thanks mainly to an immaculate 50 not out from Tomas Pierleoni, third top scorer was Sam Quinn but he was shaded for second spot by a beautifully crafted 12 from Extras. The consistent decline in Tom Clarke's form continued, his 3 innings this season having produced 19 not out, 12 not out and tonight's low-point of 8 not out.
West Herts have half a dozen Area players so we were not 100% confident that we had enough runs in the bank but when Sam Quinn rearranged their opener's stumps with the first ball of the innings the Berko boys really started to BELIEVE.
Tomas P took 3 wickets including one courtesy of a quite sensational one-handed catch by Chris Nel. Louis Cooper took 2 wickets in 2 overs in only his second competitive match for the club and Toby O'Gorman had taken two wickets for nought after five balls of his second over before letting things slip badly by conceding a single.
The ground fielding and catching was of a high standard throughout enabling the boys to dismiss the oppo for 58 in the 15th over but special mention should go to James Godsell who made his three catches look much easier than they really were.
