Match report A game that kept the umpires and scorers very busy! Henry won the toss and we batted first Daniel B and Luke going off like a rocket racing along at nearly 10 an over. It looked like we were going to rack up a huge score but after Luke retired, Daniel was caught out and we then went into sharp decline, hitting the ball in the air and giving easy catches. Fortunately West Herts were in a generous mood bowling a stack of wides and this combined with some sensible batting from Cameron and Tim at the end lifted us to a total of 117.

The half time team talk comprised of a simple phrase from the coach "bowl straight to win the game". Sadly, in one ear and out the other as all our bowlers struggled in the cold breezy conditions to keep the ball on the mown bit. This combined with some decent ball striking from West Herts opener Chirath soon had West Herts up with the run rate.
A number of chances for run outs came and went but the boys never gave up trying and a flurry of late wickets brought us back into contention. West Herts needed 4 runs to win off the last over and Luke bowled a good one but a couple of scrambled singles snatched victory from our hands.

Think we can call this one a learning experience!
