Match report With a first game of the season you never know quite what to expect however the team played an excellent game and despite a little rustiness in some areas were well worth the win.

Henry lost the toss and Boxmoors captain decided to bowl. With a couple of our players running late that was useful so Ben and Thomas started the innings with some solid play. Ben was bowled and then Henry and Thomas built an excellent partnership, Thomas retiring on 25. We then had another good partnership between Daniel B and Edmund who ran well between the wickets to bring up the 100. What was really pleasing from all the batters was the good calling and communication, something we have practiced during the winter.

Boxmoors innings started badly as Max bowled 2 quick overs and removed both opening batsmen clean bowled, well done Max on his debut for the club. This allowed Henry the luxury of rotating his bowlers so that everyone had an opportunity to perform. In all 10 bowlers were used and it never looked like Boxmoor were going to challenge our total. Thomas, Ben, Dan P and Max again all took a wicket each and Joe took a tidy catch. There was also a bizarre incident when a batsman hit his own wicket off a wide which proves there is a first for everything!

A good start - in (mostly) bright sunshine and my special thanks to Adam Brierley for scoring and good support from parents. Mark
