Match report An it all came down to this...14 points needed to guarantee a top of the table finish.

Toss was won and skip opted to bat first then to be told that Reed only had 8 men, as did their fourth team! Neither had anything to play for so we were all somewhat mystified by the sense of this decision.

All things considered it was a sensible batting display. Everyone played correctly; we didn't slog, played everything on its merit. We declared after 35 overs on 306. Ten points in the bag. (Luke finished the season with his highest ever score of 134; 300 runs in his last three innings. Great contributions from Gareth and Puds).

We had a relatively early tea and then resumed.

Old ball taken and we had them 1 for 2. Two points in the bag. Then 3 for 3; another point. One needed. A stand of 52 ensued and then Ethan struck with the batsman playing on. The league was won. We had a little group hug and carried on. Six runs later and another wicket. One more needed for victory and a full 30 points.

Deja vu. Another lower order stand. We've had a number of these throughout the season although this one was by far the largest; 111. Eventually, having just reached 100, the experienced no.4 cut one into the hands of Ethan at gully. Good sharp catch and victory was ours.

Yippee.
