Match report Another break in the weather for the U12Bs so off we went to Tring…..
Tring won the toss and opted to bat and like last week at Rickmansworth, this was definitely a toss to win! A solid start by Tring despite some tidy bowling from Ismaeel and William H and so soon enough the scoreboard was ticking along nicely (but not in our favour). However the boys stuck to the task well and there was some excellent fielding including a very sharp pick up and throw by Oliver which resulted in a great run out. “Saving 1” is something we need to work on though, as Tring were able to pick off too many cheap singles, combined with a few too many extras late on, saw Tring finish on 118 for 3.
This was a target that we thought was beyond us and after losing our first wicket in the 2nd over, the boys were up against it. However an absolutely magical partnership of 98 between William N (21 no), James (31 retired) and a few extras, suddenly saw BCC within reach. 3 overs to go and 18 required to win. Was this possible? Some lovely running (once they’d sorted out their calling!) chipped away a few more runs but alas it wasn’t to be and we fell short by just 12 runs.
A wonderful game of cricket played in a great spirit. Getting closer to our first win too so get saving those singles and we’ll get there.
