Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 12B v Bushey on Tue 26 Jun 2012 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost BCC lost by 8 runs
Match report
After a tight game earlier in the season and with Bushey in contention for top stop with Tring, this was always going to be a close game and so it turned out to be.
Bushey won the toss and opted to bat and probably regretted that decision when after 2 sharp runs outs by Jake and a catch by Max, they were 6-3 off 3 overs. A further run out by Kian knocked them back again at 15-4, but in fact this played to Bushey’s tactic of batting their strongest batsmen lower down the order and from there they proceeded to build some partnerships. Another run out at 43 slowed the rate a bit but Mahmood played some lovely shots for his 33no which left Bushey on 90-7 at the close.
91 to win was certainly achievable but like Bushey, BCC had the most horrendous start losing their top three with just 8 on the board. Bushey’s tight line and length made it hard work for the BCC middle order but Toby (27no) and Charlie (23) who it was great to see finding his confidence again with the bat, pushed on the score with a partnership of 46. Having been behind the required run rate for much of the innings, BCC suddenly found themselves in reach. However a couple more wickets in the 17th over pegged the run chase back and in the end Bushey held on by 8 runs for the win.
