Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost BCC lost by 28 runs

Match report It was another glorious evening for the return match against Tring. BCC won the toss and put Tring into bat, hoping to restrict the usual free-scoring Tring side to a moderate target. An early wicket by Christian trapping the Tring opener LBW lifted the spirits but some defensive fielding allowed Tring to pick off singles to get the scoreboard ticking along. Neither Jake nor Christian could make a further breakthrough until the 7th over when Christian picked up his second wicket of the day with Tring 25-2. A fine innings from Will Darraugh (30 no), ably supported by Isaac Munt (20) pushed the total along, unfortunately also helped by BCC’s wide count which proved to be costly in the end. Late wickets for Jake, Toby and a couple more for Christian were too much too late and Tring posted a very respectable 116 for 8.
After last week’s “run out” madness at Bushey it was hoped the lessons had been learned but after a promising first 3 overs, the boys managed once again to destroy a potential partnership with a crazy and if I may say, a greedy attempt at a second run. Toby was the unfortunate casualty and from there we never looked in the game. Tring cut through the order with only Max (17) and James L (9) showing any aggression with the bat. The run rate was soon beyond the boys and Tring ran in comfortable winners by 28 runs.
Many thanks to the Tring lads, who always play the game with such enthusiasm and energy.
