Match report Berkhamsted successfully chased down Langleybury’s impressive total of 141 to win a game completely dominated by the batsmen.

Having won the toss, Langleybury got themselves into a strong position after an excellent opening partnership between Ball (ret 54 no) and Hardy (26). Berkhamsted’s bowling was below par, and King (23 no) and Lloyd (12 no) took full advantage in setting the hosts a very challenging total.

Needing more than seven runs an over Berko’s opening pair played sensibly against Langleybury’s pacey attack – picking off the poor balls and keeping the scoreboard ticking over – and by the half way mark they were right on target, although the game remained finely balanced. Things quickly swung the way of the home side with Lewis (ret 50 no) and Holdroyd (ret 50 no) punishing some wayward bowling with some very good shots and with Lewarne (24 no) in equally confident mood, it was left to Filer (4 no) to hit the winning runs with two over to spare.

A great result which means the quarter finals are now a real possibility.
