Berkhamsted Cricket Club U14B v Kings langley on Thu 24 May 2012 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost KL won by 22 runs
Match report
A glorious summers evening saw a revised U14B team take on Kings Langley. Skipper Adam tossed up and we were fielding. In some respects the bowling wasn’t too bad but the biggest issue that I thought had been banished to the past was a recurrence of the wides. 23! Nearly four overs of extra batting time. Last year had some shocking performances but this was at a new and totally unacceptable level.
The award to those who can tune the GPS were Will G and Freddie but even Amish (normally Mr Reliable) was off target. In limited overs cricket this is a big mistake and it was proved to be so.
KLCC batted steadily and 94 runs was a decent target albeit BCC gifted 28 extras.
It is fair to say our innings didn’t get off to a great start. Chris was back in the hutch after the first ball and whilst Adam and Bickers pushed us on the 16 it was then a steady procession. At 47 for 9 it was game over and credit to Ben VV and Freddie for making the final total respectable.
It was the same problem as last week with no foot movement and a bit too much swing and miss. As one of the KL boys remarked, more misses than Henry VIII.
The highlight of the evening.....yes there was one.....was the arrival of Mrs G with Will’s birthday cake. It was scrummy so thanks to Kate for saving the sanity of the coach. Thanks also to Mike B for scoring.
