Redbourn v Berkhamsted Cricket Club U14B on Fri 18 May 2012 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Redbourn won by 6 wickets
Match report
At last, we got a game. It was dark and it rained slightly but nobody minded.
Captain Chris tossed up and off we went to bat. Given the slow outfield and the damp pitch anything over 80 would be good. Sadly it was not to be. Only Adam showed any real patience and his 17 was the only score in double figures. Coaches tip....move your feet! 64 might have been enough if we bowled well but it would require a special effort.
Debutant Josh opened up and showed some decent pace but sadly a bit too short. Get that right and wickets will come his way. Freddie and Will G showed a bit more control and were unlucky not to get more from the pitch but sadly the occasional bad ball was sent to the boundary. After 10 overs though, Redbourn were merely on the pace rather than well ahead but they had the luxury of wickets. Amish bowled very well and was rewarded with 4 overs, two maidens, 2 for 8. Top work from the king of spin. Also good flight and use of the conditions. Fair to say some superb ground fielding supporting well with Adam B hitting the stumps with two attempts. With about 8 off the last three overs and wickets in hand it was an uphill battle but the penultimate over saw the game taken away.
Good performance given the lack of runs. More concentration required as failing to use the overs is a cardinal sin in limited overs cricket.
Bowling and fielding were unrecognisable from the comedy of errors from last year. One wide! Good work.
Man of the match had to be Adam for runs and excellent fielding but also mentioned in despatches, Chris for skippering very well, Harry for a crucial wicket that might have turned it and Amish for an excellent spell.
