Berkhamsted Cricket Club U14 A v Chipperfield on Wed 04 May 2011 at 545pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
Berkhamsted 88-2 20pts v Chipperfield Clarendon 85-7 5pts
A gloriously sunny evening at BCC saw Chipperfield win the toss on a dry wicket and elect to bat.
Chipperfield were off to a bad start when Mills bowling down the hill moved one back into Simpole the dangerous opener removing his bails for a duck.
The score was ticking over nicely with the the Berkhamsted bowlers giving away lots of wides as they failed to deal with the Bcc slope.
When the bowlers found their line the Chipperfiled batsmen were able to pick off runs. Berkhamsted brought on Almond who had just taken a fine catch at short extra cover and he immediately concentrated on bowling line and length. 4 overs 3 for 12 was his return and proves that bowling straight works.
Berkhamsted chasing down 85 made a cautious start with Shelley and Sibley struggling to get the ball off the square. After 6 overs Berkhamsted were struggling along at 25-1. Shelley who missed a straight one was replaced by the big hitting Tivey who immediately upped the scoring rate by picking gaps in the Chipperfield field. Tivey holed out to long off in a short but profitable stay at the crease. He was replaced by Captain O'Gorman always a canny operator who rotated the strike sensibly. Sibley (35 n.o.) was finding the range now and plundered the bowling to chase down the target in 11.5 overs.
