Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost BCC lost by 44 runs

Match report A disappointing day for BCC but beaten by far the better side in a fairly one-sided contest throughout. BCC won the toss and put Dunstable in and despite some fairly accurate bowling BCC were unable to stem the runs, not helped by some poor fielding across the park. This combined with 3 dropped catches gave DTCC a great platform on which to make a big score. BCC struck the first wicket when a top edge was easily taken behind the stumps and there followed a period when BCC started to get back into the game with some tight bowling. However the loss of another 3 wickets brought in the big hitters who accelerated the score beyond 100 but still well within BCC’s reach.

The BCC openers, whilst never looking in danger were unable to get the scoreboard ticking. Sharp fielding by DTCC meant singles were hard to come by and the run rate soon fell well below what was required. A well held catch at square leg saw the first wicket fall followed by another wicket next ball and suddenly BCCs middle order were exposed. At 26 for 3 BCC tried hard to stay in the game but the writing was on the wall and despite a couple of extended stays at the crease, the game was done and dusted soon enough with BCC final bowled out for 71.
