Match report A late change to the printed programme saw Casey moving up to the 4s and Calum coming in for his senior debut. The pitch looked an absolute belter - except for the fact that we were playing on the one ten yards to the left. Mark won the toss and decided to bat but at 8-2 this decision was looking a tad foolish. Theo and Guy led the recovery until Guy managed to spoon one to gully he was aiming through square leg which takes some doing. Theo went from strength to strength, playing straight and putting away the bad balls, reaching a well deserved 50, then disaster struck with 2 quick run outs, the second a classic father & son mix up which could provoke sulks in the Freedman household for weeks to come. Fortunately the skipper was on hand to guide the tail through to maximum batting points and a decent total, with 37 extras also helping the cause.

Our bowling started well, with Jack moving the ball sharply and Jacob his usual metronomic self. Jake picked up the early wickets with Ben taking smart catches, then Ben himself came into the action and also snared a couple with some nice flight. Despite us dropping a couple of catches, the dog whisperer snared one on the boundary and then Theo took an athletic C&B to leave the opposition 65-6. We thought the game was in the bag but the opposition dug in for the draw and it wasnt until the 40th over that Jacob came back to pick up 2 more. Alas it wasnt to be although the bonus points have moved us off the bottom of the table - moving on up!
