Match report The intrepids of Berkhamsted Vth's took on Mill Hill Village at Haslam Fields. With the weather set fair Berkhamsted won the toss and put the opposition in on a fine track. Rajib bowling fast and straight immediately tempted Khan into a square cut and the ball was expertly snaffled by the maestro fielder Chalmers at backward point. Steady headway was made by Village with wickets coming slowly. Jake 'the snake' Lewarne got one to nip back and Sayed was on his way to the pavilion. Asif was beginning to hit straight and hard and was making steady progress (47) when Chambers junior deceived him with a faster one and he too was on his way. Jaffe was resolute for villlage and was unbeaten on 73 as Village posted a big total of 224-7. It looked as if it could be a hard day for the intrepid when Drury was deceived by one that nipped back and took his leg. Rajib and Captain Atkins then set about the bowling with Rajib making a quick 50 before being undone by Downes. The intrepids captain was defending straight deliveries but punishing short or wide ones and was rewarded with a fine 100. The game was in the bag when Atkins finallyfell to a sharp inswinger with the score on 201. Chambers junior (32 n.o)and Buchanon (10 n.o.)calmly finished off the game for a well deserved win.
