Match report An exciting game that could have gone either way ended up in a draw. Waltham X Rosedale won the toss and batted with both Ledger and Rajib troubling the openers. We quickly had them 3 down but then an obstinate partnership moved them beyond 100. Skipper Lewarne persuaded 3 batsmen out, the colts all had a good bowl (including Lewarne junior making his first start alongside another debutant Jack Hunter)and then Rajib came back to demolish the tail leaving the visitors all out for 155.

We didnt have our strongest batting line up out and scoring was difficult against their metronomic left arm opening bowler who bowled 23 overs unchanged. We probably needed just one batter to get a half century but Peps was unlucky to play on when looking settled, Atkins got a dubious LBW after a towering six and Lewarne (Snr) scored a brisk 30 before skying one to point but ultimately it was left for the two Under 14s Jacob and Jack to bat out the last 5 overs which they did with ease with Martin padded up trying unsuccessfully to look relaxed.

An enjoyable game against a decent bunch of blokes in nice weather - what a good reason to miss the cup final!
