Boxmoor II v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 3rd XI on Sat 26 Jun 2010 at 13:00

Match report
It was hot - damn hot. Fortunately, Charlie won the toss - again - and elected to bat. Alex Bolly-Hardwicke and Burgess opened on a pitch that did a bit with the new ball. Whilst Mark departed to to a good catch on the fine leg boundary, Bolly scratched around and hung about. As he sweated out the alcohol following his ABBA night, so his timing started to come back. Buckley and Puds gave great support, making Boxmoor toil and taking us to 166 for 3. Buckley, Goodwyn and Hussey all went to LBW decisions from the bowler friendly oppo umpire. Bolly's scratching started to become fluent as he passed a hard fought 100 as the Boxmoor started to wilt. With Bolly finally out to a very good catch at point, young Antonelli and O'Dair entered the fray. Straight bats and good running saw the score push onto 267 for 9 off 53 with Barty also showing excellent hitting. Boxmoor looked worn out having taken the field in 30C heat.
Ian and Barty opened, with Barty dismissing the keeper/opening bat with a beaty. Ian and Chris both picked up a wicket each and with the fielding staying sharp, Antonelli's excellent run out with a direct hit was just reward. With 5 down, Boxmoor appeared to drop anchor early in the proceedings. The spinners came on and Goodwyn and Antonelli picked up another couple of wickets. Despite wickets for O'Dair and Bolly, we went to the wire. Boxmoor's number 10 and 11 saw them through the last 3 overs, and with attacking fields, going for the win, Boxmoor were able to scramble the last few runs to take them to the 200 and their batting bonus points. We drew - albeit that we were on the better side of the result.
