Match report An excellent victory for the U15s which looked unlikely at one stage. The match at west Herts was played on a lightning fast outfield and very short boundaries which meant anything reasonably timed went for 4 or 6. Running a 2 was nigh on impossible and 3s were rarer than Dodo eggs. This made for a strange game with the West Herts innings starting with a barrage of 4s and 6s from their openers so that after 10 overs they were 80 for 0 and looking at a collosal total. But after their opener Mehtab retired for 50 the innings began to collapse against some steady bowling from Robert Prunty (2 for 7) and some well-controlled swing bowling from Sam Hauck who took 3 for 16 off his 4 overs. This combined with good ground fielding including 2 catches by Jack Hunter meant that the home team only made 116, a very reachable target.

Our innings struggled at first but a flurry of boundaries from Will Holderness and Joseph Atkins kept us up with the run rate. Opener Nick Williams kept fighting hard for runs even though his timing was awry and then Calum Alexander came in and sealed the game for Berko with a string of well timed shots on both sides of the wicket. Nick finished the game off with a massive six over long on. Well done lads, first win of the season and well deserved.
