Tring Park v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13B on Fri 04 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost Tring won by 10 runs
Match report
A high scoring B team match distinguished by good batting and erratic bowling and fielding from both teams. Tring batted first with the star performers being Hatfield who favoured the lofted drive in a fine 50 before retiring and Butler who bludgeoned a quick 30 before being stumped. Most of Berkos bowlers took a battering with the field moving in and out like incredibly slow yo-yos making the over rate criminally slow. Jack Hunter, Ben Atkins and Robert Prunty were the most accurate bowlers for Berko. Ben Towler took 2 smart stumpings. There were also wickets for Hamish (who also bowled the only maiden of the game), Rory and Jack Wiggs. Captain Jacob Lewarne was exasperated trying to get the field right for the big hitters in Trings team and this is something we have to improve on.
Berko's batters made a great effort to get the total before faltering in the last 4 overs. The innings was built on a partnership of 60 between Jack Wiggs (38) and Ben Towler (25) who both played really well in contrasting styles. In the end a couple of good catches and run outs by Tring were enough to seal the win.
Between them the teams gave away 62 extras of which 43 were wides which really isnt good enough and resulted in the game finishing after 9pm.
