Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13B v Potten End on Sun 27 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 52 runs
Match report
Berkhamsted batted first in this local derby. Gasper and Hart from Potten End opened with accurate bowling and Gasper took two early wickets. Max Jenkinson and Callum Alexander came in at 3 and 4. Max started slowly pushing singles and Callum played some crisp shots off his legs, taking 16 off one over. Max then began to play shots all around the pitch. Callum finally fell to a tidy catch from Hart and the score had moved onto a respectable 93, with a stand off 77. Max continued his controlled play and retired at 50 not out, a match winning performance. Wickets fell steadily as Berkhamsted pushed the total onward. Perrah for Potten End tidied up the wickets and was unlucky not to take a hatrick. He finished with impressive figures of 4 for 6. Berkamsted set a challenging total of 134, however with the fast outfield anything was possible.
Jack Hunter and Jacob Lewarne opened the bowling. Outside the off stump was the request and thats what they delivered. Indeed Jacks first ball had pace, bounce and swing and caught a fine edge. It was to be Libby Marsdens only error as a sharp chance went down. Jack finished up with tidy figures of 1 for 15 and Jacob of 2 for 9. Further tight bowling from Wiggs, Lennox, Prunty and Williams kept the score down and Potten End were struggling to keep up with the run rate. Perrah and Hart put on a neat 30, but as Rochford and Lagdon took the last wickets between them the match concluded with Potten End all out for 82. A match played in good spirit between a large number of boys who go to school together, they were not shy in sending their mates back to the changing rooms. Libby performed well behind the stumps without a single bye going past her. I was impressed with Jack Wiggs captaincy a fine balance between attack and defence where appropriate. A great team spirit leading to a very impressive win, WELL DONE.
