Match report First game of the season away at Leverstock Green saw the boys raring to go and full of enthusiasm. We won the toss and decided to bat but we looked a bit rusty as both openers went cheaply. Slowly we began to build a score with useful contributions from Jonny Harvey (13) and Matt Hopkins (18) but the major innings was played by captain Edward Butler-Caddle who hit 8 boundaries on his way to 53 not out. A good partnership between Edward and Nick Williams over the last 5 overs saw us finish on 117 after our 20 overs.

Our bowling immediately put Leverstock Green on the backfoot with Ethan Mackie taking a wicket in his first over. Then a run out by Jacob Lewarne and fine swing bowling by Jonnny Harvey put Berko in firm control. Despite 3 difficult dropped catches our ground fielding overall looked sharp and Theo Freedman took an excellent low slip catch. Both Jonny and Calum Miles finished with 3 wickets apiece as the opposition were bowled out for just 63.

A good start but there will be stiffer opposition to come.
