Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 13A v Potten End on Thu 20 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 43 runs
Match report
Whilst we had a comfortable win in the end I think this game provided a perfect example of the pitfalls of not taking the opposition seriously.
We batted first and were in some trouble as we lost 2 wickets early trying to hit straight balls or failed to play straight. Coaching point to all batsmen......You should know how to play a forward and backward defence shot by now! (I noticed that we are not very precise in our running between the wickets both in who should be calling, the volume of calling and running the bat in.
The ground fielding was good but we missed 2 regulation high catches through bad technique. This deficiency was highlighted in last Friday's coaching so we will work on it further. Fielding and catching are as important if not more so than batting and bowling as everyone in the team needs to be proficient at it. It is where you win the most matches. Against better sides we would be punished for missing catches.
The bowling was quite good for the most part with only 4 wides bowled on a difficult sloping wicket. Well done to Ali Warrell on his debut who bowled really well and deserved his wicket.
