West Herts v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 12C on Thu 17 Jun 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Lost West Herts won by 4 wickets
Match report
The all conquering U12B team arrived at West Herts. full of optimism and needing to win to cement their position at the top of the league. Chris Lovett went out to toss up, won the toss and elected to bat. Chris opened and was shortly back in the pavilion. He was carrying a minor injury as he had caught a ball in the face during the warm up.......thrown by his sister.
Jamie Slater was the other opener and stuck around as Amish, Harry, Matt and Adam came and went. The only resistance was from Ben and with Jamie’s excellent work, the boys amassed a measly 73. It was unlikely to be enough but with good bowling and ground fielding the task could be made very difficult.
West Herts. went out to bat and despite agreeing that bowling had to be tight, the opening overs were littered with wides. Sadly the West Herts. opener was in good form and he scored freely. At one point the score was 44-1 with the opener on 28 and the rest being extras.
Fortunately the opener then had to retire and the game started to turn. Excellent bowling from Lovett, Slater and Buckley saw West Herts. pegged back and 44-1 suddenly became 49-5. At 67-6 the game was slipping away and despite some very tidy bowling from Beth Lovett (making her debut) the winning runs were scored in the 17th over.
Thanks to Steven Slater for helping out, Carrie for supporting and chauffeuring despite James not playing. Man of the match Jamie Slater for both runs and wickets and a catch.
