Watford Town v Berkhamsted Cricket Club Under 12C on Wed 05 May 2010 at 6pm
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won BCC won by 4 wickets
Match report
What a game! The boys won the toss and elected to field and some very good opening spells by Slater and Tidey pinned back the Watford openers. Wickets fell regularly and some canny spin bowling by Jonny Garwood poached a couple of wickets as they tried to accelerate. Unfortunately the boys bowled rather too many wides and despite steadily losing wickets, Watford mustered 104 off the 20 overs. Mention to Goodwyn, Hunter, Buckley and Lovett as they bowled some tidy stuff. James Wilton also fielded well and thanks to Alan for scoring.
Onto the chase. Bickerdike and Bottrill opened up and ticked the board over before Bottrill lobbed a lame catch back to the bowler. Enter Tidey. the big lad (reminiscent of Flintoff) waved the bat a few times and the ball started to disappear to the fence. Bickerdike managed to step on his stumps attempting a flamboyant hook and enter Adam Brierley. Cometh the hour and all that. As the sky darkened, Adam batted beautifully scoring a deserved and undefeated 30 runs. Tidey had since departed to be replaced by Goodwyn. A couple of dashing drives and then he missed a straight one. Enter Jamie. pushing here and there and urging the scoreboard along. 3 overs left and about 15 needed. Lovett and Slater ran well and hit the bad balls. With two balls left the ball went through the covers and Berkhamsted had secured victory. It was pitch black but who cares, we had won. Cue great celebrations and pitch invasion.
Well done to all as it was a good team effort. Onto the next one. Lights will be provided hopefully!
