Match report The first game of the season for the U12 B team was bathed in sunshine at Kitcheners Fields. Abbots won the toss and decided to bat but struggled to score quickly against good bowling and fielding from our lads. Berkhamsted used all 10 bowlers in their 18 overs with Jamie Slater and Jonathan Butler-Caddle picking up 2 wickets each. The 17 wides we bowled showed some early season rustiness but we can impove on that. William Bickerdike, making his debut for Berkhamsted, kept wicket superbly and took a good catch. For Abbots Adam top scored with 16 as the away team finished on 62-8 off 18 overs.

Berko’s openers really struggled against an excellent Abbots opening bowling attack. Cameron bowled a great spell taking 4 for 4 off his 4 overs and we looked to be in trouble with just 26 on the board after 9 overs and half the team back in the clubhouse. Then James Parry (another debutant) and Jonathan Butler-Caddle batted with calmness, skill and a bit of luck in an unbroken partnership of 37 to see us home with 3 overs to spare. James top scored with 23, including 4 well struck boundaries. A good win to start the season and thanks to Mike for scoring.
