Match report The U12As continued their good start to the season with a thumping 78 run win at Watford Town.

The opening pair of Charlie Nicholls and Oli Holdroyd got the innings off to a blistering start, and both retired having reached 30 not out. Oli - who hit seven boundaries – was in particularly good form, adding some sharp running to the trademark big hitting. Jack Filer (14) was unlucky to be bowled by a daisy-cutter after hitting three excellent fours and George Lewarne (21) continued his good run with the bat this year. There was also a solid contribution from George Carter who finished 22 not out.

The total of 141 for 2 was always going to be a big ask for the home side and they got off to the worst possible start when one of their openers was run out by a brilliant long range direct hit from Charlie Nicholls. Anna Nicholls (4-13)was the pick of the bowlers and William Bickerdike pulled off a fine stumping in his first game for the A team.

On a full 22 yd pitch there were plenty of wides from the bowlers, but overall this was an excellent performance, and the team go into their next two games - against strong Shenley Village and Radlett sides - in good spirit.
