Match report Berkhamsted's batting proved too strong for a young Hemel team on a bitterly cold evening at Kitchener's. Having won the toss, the home team found runs hard to come by early on with some accurate bowling from Edward and Will. When Harry bowled Oli Holdroyd, Berko had scored only 18 off the first five overs, and neeeded some inspiration. They got it from Ted Stanford, George Lewarne and Jack Filer, who changed the game with a ruthless display of hitting that saw all three retire having reached 30 not out. Cameos from Anna Nicholls (12) and Harry Ormerod (14 not out) took the total past 150. Will Comfort bowled tidily (4-2-0-14), there were wickets for William and Edward and an excellent run out by Charlie. In reply, Hemel were always up against it but, to their credit, batted out the 20 overs. Their top scorer Edward Langley - one of several U11s in the side - retired having hit an impressive 30 not out. Berkhamsted fielded well and held all their catches which was no mean feat bearing in mind the numb fingers! George Lewarne took three wickets with Jamie Slater and Harvey Lewis picking up the others.
