Cricket Club's World Cup Predictions Competition

Berkhamsted CC - World Cup Predictions 2014

With a fantastic premiership season having drawn to a close and Man City walking off with the spoils (how many of you, like me, would have liked to have seen Liverpool do it just for their sheer panache), attention switches to the World Cup in Brazil.

Yes, it’s time again for the cricket club's
World Cup Prediction competition, where you can win a good cash prize for guessing the results of all the games. There will be a top prize of around £300, depending on numbers. Other prizes will be given, too, for 2nd, 3rd and 4th at least, and also for the person getting the highest score in the knockout rounds.

If you don't already know, the idea is simple: predict the result of every game of each round as I send them to you, firstly the group games (attached), then the 2
nd round, the quarter-finals, etc. For each game, you get 5 points for getting the result right and 2 points for each side’s score that you get right, giving a maximum of 9 points for each game.

As simple as that. For example, if you guess that Brazil beat Croatia 2-1 in the first game and the result is 2-0, then you get 7 points. For 1-0 you would get 5 and if Croatia win 1-0 then you would only get 2 points for Croatia’s score. You'll get the full 9 if the score is 2-1, as you predicted.

The cost is £10 to enter and I must get the cash and the entry form by the end of June 10th, with the first game kicking off on June 12th. The form for the group games is attached. Fill it in and return it to
peter.dudley@northgate-is.com and send me your £10 preferably as a transfer to my bank account (details below) or as a cheque (payable to me) to 6 Egerton Rd, Berkhamsted HP4 1DT.

£4 per entry goes to the cricket club and all the rest goes in prize money, so two good reasons to enter. Please support the club and have a go.

**** AND MAKE SURE THAT YOU SEND THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, THE MORE THE MERRIER. GET TOGETHER YOUR OWN MINI-LEAGUE AT WORK ****

I look forward to receiving your entry - Good luck!
