Berkhamsted Cricket Club News story

BCC app and online match fee payments

16 Apr 2023

Dear members,

I hope you have all had a good winter and are excited for the upcoming season. I’m writing to let you know about two important improvements to club admin which we will be trialling this season for senior matches.

The information below concerns senior cricket only and doesn't apply to junior games.

  • Our website provider Hitssports has launched an app for clubs to use which we believe will make admin such as availability, selection and match fees much easier to manage. While the app isn’t required (all of the above can all still be done via the website), we would encourage playing members (and/or their parents in the case of juniors playing senior cricket) to download it. In particular, if you are available for preseason matches over the next couple of weekends, we would ask you to trial using the app and send any feedback or issues to me (ruperttwilson@hotmail.com).

You can download the Hitssports app for iOS or Android using these links. Once installed, select Berkhamsted Cricket Club from the list of available clubs and login using your same details as on the club website. We hope beyond this it is self-explanatory to use, but can provide guidance in case of any issues.

  • We are recommending use of the app is because the club is now set up to accept online card payment of match fees. We will be trialling this over the two preseason weekends and, if successful, will implement for all senior matches, except women’s matches (for now). We believe this will not only make it much easier for players to pay, but also for us to keep track of payments made (hopefully meaning fewer annoying chaser emails this season!).

When a match fee is due for a game played, you will be notified in the app and can then pay using card or Apple Pay. Click on the fixture name to bring up the option to pay. Going forward, it is strongly preferred that senior match fee payments are made using the app or the website payment page. You should no longer pay by bank transfer unless you have a prior arrangement (e.g. if you pay in bulk upfront) and captains will not be accepting cash payments on matchday other than in exceptional circumstances.

Please note that season subs should still be paid via bank transfer to the club account.

If you have any questions, do please let me know. I hope everyone has a great season!

Thanks,
Rupert Wilson
