Match report Welwyn to bat and a good start. Huw Barnett the shining light taking 4-40 off his ten and giving a leg spinning masterclass. Good spells also from Mike Antonelli, Paul Langley and Max Jones. In the end, a decent recovery from the truckers reducing the home team to 211 for 8 off 45. Some good fielding from the colts, particularly Max Jones.

Spice from the Sherjan/Brown opening combo was eased in the third over as a direct hit saw Brown fall debatably short of his ground. The skipper continued with some powerful strokeplay before mis-timing a hook to square leg, leaving the away team with much still to do. Peter Dudley batted methodically for his 37 and steadied the middle order as chaos threatened. Due to an excellent Welwyn leg spinning duo, Berkhamsted found it difficult to get a handle on the 5 an over run rate mid innings and despite Paul Langley flexing his guns late in the day, the truckers were left wanting and tailed to 144 all out from 41 overs.
