Match report County Champions.......how good does that sound?

Berkhamsted won the toss and batted. Luke O'Dair and Max Jones got us off to a great start, reaching 41-0 after 6 overs. One that kept low did for Max before some decidedly nervous running crept in. Radlett's bowlers didn't give much away but another fine knock from William Steed led us to a very respectable 122-6 from our 20 overs.

Jordan Harrison took a wicket with his first ball, but Radlett's batsmen were in no mood to roll over. The remaining overs were incredibly tense, with Radlett looking favourites for much of their innings, particularly at 81-4 after 13 overs. However, the boys showed immense courage and character and threw themselves at everyting in the field. A fine spell by O'Dair brought Berko right back into the match. The pressure finally told on the batsmen and more great fielding led to 3 run outs in quick succession, the last wrapping up the innings as Berko ran out winners by 8 runs.

The whole squad of players should feel very proud of themselves. They have acquitted themselves superbly throughout the last 2 or 3 seasons and they were justly rewarded.

Big thank you's to Tim for trekking around the home counties to ensure all the boys made it, to Peter for scoring, all the coaches who have helped recently, in particular Fish (those fielding drills really paid off) and to all the parents who gave such valuable and vocal support. Special thank you's to the four players who were unlucky enough to miss out on the day, but who all took the decision with admirable grace.

And finally to Paul. You did so much to help mould the group into fine young cricketers and fine young men. We did it for you.
