Match report New skipper Jess lost the toss and with us starting with 9 - the Dales turning up for 1.30 - the opposition opted to bat first.

Ian Merrett and Ben Atkins bowled beautifully for not having played for 3 years and 1 year respectively, using a bowler friendly pitch with occasional surprise high bounce at one end. Suddenly they were 26-5 and we were well on top. Their veteran batsman Sherali batted sensibly though and sheparded through the score while we still dominated with OC bowling for 2-11 off his 8 and all bowlers threatening and getting success of some sort. They were all out for 134 7 balls short of the full innings.

In reply, Pete and Jacob got off to a great start with a 66 opening partnership, being watchful on that pitch but taking opportunities while they could. This proved a good boost to a smallish target and Jacob stayed to finish the job with the assistance of good blows from the middle order and despite a highly contentious LBW decision given by their umpire against Brownie well down the pitch and hit on the pad flap. Target achieved with 11 overs to spare.

A very good win to christen Jess's captaincy career, she's now off on hols nursing the 100% record. Over to Dave to continue at home next week.....
