Match report The U14's continued their winning streak away at Shenley. The home side won the toss and put us into bat. That decision looked to be a good one as they reduced us to 35-4 after 9 overs. However, in a repeat of the opening match against Hemel, Luke O'Dair and Ben Beard put together a match winning partnership of 67 before Ben was dismissed for the first time this season. That brought Seb Smith in to add valuable runs late on, reaching a total of 136-5, a total which looked reachable bearing in mind the short boundaries and an outfield like glass!
After a dodgy start, which made the manager's heart beat just a little faster, the bowlers found their line and the fielders produced some fine stops (and direct hits) and soon began to rip through the home side's batting line up. Huw Barnett with 4-12 did most of the damage, but the fine bowling was evident by the fact that 7 of the batsmen were clean bowled. Olly O'Gorman also produced a fine piece of fielding to produce a run out, before Seb Smith mopped up the tail.
Once again it was an excellent team performance with every member producing a committed and energetic effort.
