Northwood Town II v Berkhamsted Cricket Club 2nd XI on Sat 20 Jun 2015 at 1pm - 100 overs (53/47)
Berkhamsted Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets
Match report
We arrived in dribs and drabs. Wandered out with their skipper to toss up and took in the ups and downs of the outfield and then the wicket. Won toss - could I send our lads in to bat on this without prior warning - no, so we bowled.
Overall, a very good effort in the field. We bowled good lines, fielded well and continued to take wickets at regular intervals - Northwood never got going really. The pick of the bowlers was Jo; everyone else contributed but it was Jo who stood out.
Tea. Well, universal lavishing of praise. The facilities generally may have been basic but no escaping the quality of the tea. The little old lady in the kitchen did her club proud.
The drizzle was appearing. Our lads went out to bat on the road - an apt description of the wicket as it did resemble most of the roads we now have the privilege of driving on in modern day Britain. Ben was out to a very good, sharp and nonchalant catch from the oppo w/k and Darren helped a wide legside longhop in to the w/k's hands. We had a little break for rain and were getting a little nervous about whether we would see it through. Up steps Brownie and Lewis. We were half way there after 15 overs and 7.2 overs later the game was won. Two minutes later it pissed down.
A very good win.
